Mt Bachelor opens for skiing for the first time

1958

On April 25, 1958, Mt Bachelor opened to the public with a single rope tow plus a Poma lift on what became Skyliner. The rope tow charged $1.50. Bill Healy, who founded the resort, used to ride the tow himself wearing a suit and tie when local press came up to visit. Today Mt Bachelor runs eleven lifts plus 4,323 acres of skiable terrain.
